Bought a 2024 Kia Sportage in January of this year. My Instrument Panel behind the steering wheel will randomly go black while driving and turn back on and do a system check. It has happened while going 45, 25, crawling through a parking lot and at a stop light. There is no one thing that has happened which is consistent each time. The dealership can't recreate it so of course they are telling me they can't do anything until it does it for them. Has anyone else experienced this?

Is it a LX or EX? One with the "Owl Eyes" driver display w/digital speedo & tach? If so, I think this was a recall a while ago. Needs a dealer software update?

It is an X-Line and as far as I know there are no updates needed at this time.

So your drivers display is the full digital one w/analog speedo and tach? If so, haven't seen anyone on these forums mention this before. Must be unique to your car. Sounds like a possible loose connection? But that's a safety issue. Call Kia CS, tell them dealer can't fix and you are going to file a complaint w/NHTSA:

My wife has a 2024 Sportage XLine doing the same thing with no rhyme or reason. It’s been in the dealer service 4 times . Every time they check the gauge cluster pins and “reset the system” and say they cant recreate it. Once the system has been reset its about 3 weeks before it happens again. Have you considered pursuing lemon law?

You’re not alone. It’s not loose wires under the dash.

I just had it replaced by another Kia dealership, fingers crossed this fixes it. I kept a log for two months while I waited to get into the other dealership and they immediately said the panel was bad and they would replace it.

I am having the same issue; 2024 Sportage, dealer changed the cluster (So they say) same issue the following week. Happens weekly. Yesterday with the Cruise control on the car decelerated while re-booting then sped up resuming the value of the Cruise control. They can't see the issue and have no fix so far! Looking into lemon law!

Yup same! I have another appointment next month with the dealership for them to look at it again. Other than this issue I love the car but it is definitely annoying to have this happen all the time. On another forum I found a woman who was having the same issue and her dealership told her it is happening with all the Blue and Green ones.

My wife's 2024 x-line is going through the same thing for a year now. They have done the 2023 recall update, replaced the cluster, replaced the dash wireing harnes, and replaced the junction box, still having the same problem. We have started the paperwork with KIA customer care for the lemon law, and they are dragging thier feet, we started it after Thanksgiving.

My wife’s is a grey X-line. I finally got a video of it happening . I uploaded it to my YouTube.
That is exactly what mine is doing! I just got off the phone with Kia and have ANOTHER appointment with them on Thursday. I feel like I'm going crazy! They replaced the instrument panel and worked on the wiring and still having issues!

I have the same problem. Mine is red. Going to take it in this week. Sounds like it is a common problem with the 2024's. Doesn't sound like they can fix it. Don't normally drive at night, but am pretty sure it shut my headlights off too.

Mine has done the same thing 3 times with less than 5,000 miles. Dealer acts all befuddled. They know the same code appeared each time. Yet, they insist on having their tech drive it to recreate the problem which makes no sense. What would a 4th code prove? They finally escalated to KIA support after having the car the 3rd time. This time they have had it a week. Now they are telling me it takes KIA tech support 48 hours to respond. Two comments: 1. I will be pursuing a lemon law buy back per state of MI law. 2. DO NOT BUY A KIA! It's nothing more than a cheap computer with wheels. Ours is also a grey X-Line.

yes i just bought a 2025 kia sportage and i'm have the same issue.

Everyone needs to call Kia and report the issue with them as well and get a case number started. The more people reaching out about it they will need to address it. That was what my dealership told me to do. I have a case open with them currently and they are still trying to work on a solution but the more cases open the more urgent it will become.
