Just picked up my new 2025 Sportage Hybrid SX Prestige...new car...new problem
New to the forum. Just picked up my new 2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid SX Prestige on 12/28/24 (after a 6 month wait) and on 12/20/24 I had it towed back to the dealer-car/battery died. Driving about a mile and then the engine light came on...car started hesitating and I pulled over and that was it. No power...no nothing. Vehicle still at dealer and I've heard nothing back. Christmas week...what a great time for car trouble.
Any idea as to what could have happened? I was told that the vehicle was sitting in the port of Philadelphia for 3-4 moths for whatever reason.

Sounds like maybe an issue w/the hybrid battery? If so, it may be a long wait. Insist on a loaner!

Fingers-crossed that fixes it. Someday. Insist on that loaner. With “skin in the game”, maybe your squeaky wheel gets fixed before the other guy’s…
Point being, these more serious issues may take several tries before they nail it. And an ECU costs a lot less than a hybrid battery, so may be why they are starting there.

No typo...after a month waiting for a new ECU and finally got back on the road. 3 days later same exact problem. I just think my car is a lemon. Contacted Corporate Kia and I'm in the long process of seeing if they will determine if my NEW 2025 is a lemon. Unbelievable! They are promising me that they will find and fix the problem. The error codes were the same after the first issue. I think it's the battery and that is costly.Guessing you had a typo somewhere. Still check engine light comes on after I was promised for a 3rd time that my 2025 SX Prestige Hybrid was fixed. I contacted Corporate Kia 2 months ago and still waiting to hear back. Dealers wants to swap for a non/hybrid 2025 Sx Prestige.What was the result?? New ‘25 Sportage owner here.
2 new replacement parts and Check Engine Light still comes on. I am beyond frustrated.No typo...after a month waiting for a new ECU and finally got back on the road. 3 days later same exact problem. That’s rediculous. Do have a Lemon Law in your State? Over 3 attempts approaching 90 days with no success.
I did a swap for a non-hybrid 2025 Kia Sportage SX Prestige. Corp. Couldn't trust the Hybrid after 3x's breaking down for the same issue. Corp. Kia FINALLY got back to me and are rewarding me very well for my "very stressful time" with the faulty hybrid.

My new 2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid X-Line Prestige was purchased on 1/24/25 and the MIL warning light just came on today. No issues driving it the rest of the way to work, but I am concerned. What questions should I ask when I can get to the dealership on Monday?
I have a 2025 ICE engine Kia Sportage SX-Prestige. At about 2 months and 1,500 miles, I had an SRS Airbag warning light come on. The Kia Connect App states the error codes are B1620 (SRS Control Module), B16D3 ( seatbelt pretensioner) and B16D2 (driver module). The car is now at Kia dealer and they are replacing parts. Anyone had this same issue ? Very disappointing. Car was awesome up to that point.

Have not. Nothing over 40 mi ea way yet. Am amazed the engine shuts down at speeds above 70mph and drives electrically at that speed if it’s flat for 2-3 miles before it recharges. Cool tech.I'm wondering if you've taken a long journey with your hybrid SXP? How did it do on long distance highway driving? Thank you

I just purchased a 2025 Kia Sportage SX Prestige hybrid all-wheel drive gravity gray with the red interior. I have a question about the panoramic sunroof. I owned a Hyundai Santa Fe fully loaded with a panoramic sunroof and it was able to have the shade halfway back and also the glass open with the bug deflector up as well. The shade didn't have to go all the way back as it does in my Kia. I wonder if anyone knows if the shade can remain halfway while having the glass open at the same time? Couldn't find anything about it online and the manual is limited . Thank you for any responses
Try clicking back on the shade control and then push the same button up when the shade is half way. Then push and hold the button to open the sunroof. Can also try in reverse. Open it all the way and then close it, pushing the button again when it is half way. Then pushing open the sunroof. I know I've done this, but not sure if the shade has to be open a certain amount to work. I'm pretty sure it won't open the sunroof if you just crack the shade open a bit before stopping it and trying the sunroof.
Joseph here, I had a similar problem with our PHEV 2024 SX Sportage. After driving 65-70km continuously in EV mode at about 75 km/hr on country roads (easily eclipsing the 54 km battery range), my 'engine overheating' light would come on each time I exceeded 60+ km of continuous driving on EV mode, and for the remainder of that day, the vehicle would refuse to go back into EV mode, even after charged. My dealer could not replicate the issue, and so we could not get any information on what was occurring.New to the forum. After trial and error, I now understand what's happening with Sportage PHEVs flagging an 'overheating' engine light, after driving 60+ kilometers on a single battery in a single drive. It turns out that the car's computer automatically shuts down the EV function every time the vehicle is driven more that 60km continuously in 1 day on EV mode, not because the battery or motor is overheating, but as a failsafe for the hybrid system. You can easily get around this, if you drive country roads like me in your PHEV, by simply switching your PHEV into hybrid mode with the center console button manually when you've driven about 55km continuously on a single drive and in a single day.
Then, just 1 km after you've manually activated the engine on your drive, switch back into EV mode with the center console button and keep saving gas for the remaining 10-15 km of your quiet and smooth ride. This works like a charm, as the engine computer never registers an uninterrupted 60+ km EV drive when you use this technique. For anybody interested. I live 70km from work in southern Ontario, and so I drive ALOT, but I still get amazing economy from our PHEV, currently I'm sitting with 33% fuel since my last fill up 1 month ago and I have driven 2900+ km in the time, getting an average of 1 liter/ 100 km (Canadian), equivalent to 235 mpg.
Because the Canadian government gave an incentive of $5000 when we bought over a year ago, we only had to spend a little more than the price of a Hybrid SX to get the PHEV SX. In the fist full year of driving, we saved $2000 in fuel expenses, even taking into account the cost of charging, which covered the delta in price we paid. We now don't watch the price of gas at all, it's just not a concern anymore because of the PHEV's efficiency. If you're wandering if you should take the plunge and go Electric with a PHEV!.. Just do it, and then thank me later!
