There isn't much info on this charger they give with the car. I know my other charger that's a level1,2 combo will automatically detect the circuit it's connected to and adjusts to maximum amperage without tripping the circuit. Maybe that is what is happening here and if it goes down to 8, then there's something else on that circuit. Have you tried using a different outlet elsewhere?Hello,
I have a 2025 Sportage PHEV. The settings on the trickle charger that came with the vehicle will not go above 12, and when initially set to 12 does not stay there - it automatically reduces to 8. This is my first time charging. I did unplug the charger and try a second time with the same results. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Thanks for the quick reply. It was user error. Have to press and hold until the charger flashes 12 then press again to confirm the selection. There isn't much info on this charger they give with the car. Thanks, Steveo. We have a Tucson PHEV in the family, but its been a while since its been charged in my garage. I do remember that it used to pop the breaker when we had it set @12, so no, I don't think its sampling the circuit somehow. But maybe is a new charger version? The manual should tell you at least how to lock in the higher charging rate.
