Problem updating GPS data
Hi All, I have a 2020 Sportage which I'm attempting to upgrade the GPS, so far without much luck.
I followed the navigation update and downloaded program to desktop, then from there to a USB thumb drive, inserted the drive into the USB port in the vehicle and proceeded to download.
It seemed to update normally, but after restart, I get "navigation not available, please check sd card". The info on the display says the upgrade was updated on todays date, but it continues to show Nav not available at this time. Now I have no GPS until I figure it out..!
I'm stuck as to what to do next to get it to work? Any help will be appreciated, Thank you..

I stopped back to answer my own question in case others experience the same problem.
My original instructions said to get either a thumb drive or memory card, so I went with the thumb drive. I downloaded the update from the web to the drive and loaded it into the USB port on the vehicle. I took about 40 minutes to download and was completed successfully.
The note on the vehicle display says that the program was downloaded successfully on todays date, but the screen showed Navigation not available, with no error message, no further information.
Tried loading it again this morning and still no results, so I called KIA customer support and explained the problem, and they gave me the phone number to the company in Canada responsible for the computed system in the vehicle.
They were very helpful, he said to forget the thumb drive and remove the memory card from the vehicle, put it into my computer and download the program on to that disc and then reinstall in the vehicle. After another 40 minute download onto the card, I placed it back in the vehicle and I now have the new updated GPS system.
The original and incorrect suggestion about using a thumb drive cost me much time and frustration. Go directly to the card.

I've got a 2020 Sportage Where is the memory card located.
Immediately above the emergency flasher button there is the AIR BAG door, and just to the right is another little door with writing that is unreadable without a light, that says MAP. Pop the little door open with your thumbnail and there is the SD card.
The MAP writing is hard to read because they didn't highlight it with white color, I guess they don't want you to read it other that every couple of years when the latest update comes out. The update currently available for download is from Oct, 2023, so less than a year old.
I hope this helps, I spent a couple of hours becoming an expert, a couple of hours for a 15 second task.! It's all in knowing where to look..! Of course the download takes 30-40 minutes. You get a new, colorful display with a number of improvement in addition to the latest maps. Have fun..!
