Hello all,

I bought a 2018 kia sportage (base model, nothing fancy) and generally like it.

It's just about to tick up to 100k and thought I'd ask if anyone has any recommendations for maintenance at 100k for Sportages?
I bought it with 36k miles, off lease, and have driven it these past 4 years. I do a lot of city driving in it.

No real issues, aside from what I call an intermittent rough idle.
In Drive, at a red light, with the AC on, the idle will occasionally get a little rough, then settle out. It drives fine, sounds fine, etc.

Regular oil changes, and the only real major repair was replacing the AC compressor, at purchase, because I bought it from a stealership.
However, it was still under warranty, so aside from my time, no cost.

Any suggestions for those hitting 100k in a 2018 Sportage FE?

thanks!

Seems you and I have very similar situation with our 2018 Sportages. Mine is an LE AWD with the 2.4L GDI Engine purchased at 29K miles four years ago and approaching 96K as of this writing. I did have the Knock Sensor Harness and software upgrade done. Regular oil changes with Mobile Full Synthetic, replaced brakes and tires from usual wear and tear. I use only premium name brand fuels (Shell & BP) with 93 octane rating. I totally baby my car.

On the last oil change I did have my mechanic perform the recommended maintenance along with replacing the spark plugs and performing a GDI engine cleaning service, and holy cannoli's what a difference in power and fuel economy (added 5 mpg). I'd bet if you get this done that rough idle will go away. My mechanic charges $119.00 for the GDI cleaning service which I highly recommend from my experience.

My only gripe is I do go though a couple of quarts of oil in between oil changes. Do you have this issue? My mechanic warned me when I bought the car this would happen. Other than that she purrs like a kitten.

Hi Beatlesguy,

I'll look into the tune-up/SP replacement and GDI cleaning. It's at 105k now and still runs fine, excepting the occasional rough idle.

Mine hasn't consumed oil in any large amount. I get 2-3 oil changes per year.
