Good morning, we have a 22 Kia Sportage LX and just had it in on Saturday for it's first service. My wife is wanting to put a remote start on the car.. I read that there is 4 different models for the Sportage and that the top 2 models come with remote start. When she asked on Saturday they said that they could install it for $599.. and that it was a 2.5 hour installation. She asked if a remote start was added from an outside source if it would void her warranty and they recommended that she should stay away from outside sources because they would have to cut into the wires.
While waiting on our car, I went online and found a remote start for $263 and it actually went through their parts department.. I went and questioned them about it and was told that they were only affiliated with that company and would have to order it through them.. it also stated that it was plug and play and only required an hour to install. The dealership tried to say that it wasn't pnp and that it required cutting into the wires. I find it hard to believe that Kia wouldn't use the same wiring harness for all 4 models.. where you couldn't just pnp this remote start.. I'm hoping that there is a Kia technician that might be in here reading and can answer a few questions about this.
