When driving, my car beeps and shows the back is open on the instrument panel (blinking red). I cannot lock my car as my alarm goes off and also makes the dome light stay on. Trunk is clearly closed. Mainly happens when wet. Has been occurring since 5-7K miles. I have had in shop 4x for total of 18days. Sometimes they are able to replicate issue, most times I have to bring in as problem is occurring. Tailgate power latch has been replaced to no avail. Last time was told its the wiring in the tow hitch and they add dielectric grease to keep moisture away from connections. This was finally done around 13K. I haven't had issues since and now have 19k on my vehicle. But I'm worried this is going to start again once in the rainy season. I filed compliant with KIA customer service and was offered good-will payment equal to one month car payment. I don't think this is a fair amount. Has anyone had an issue like this with their rear hatch. And will compromise if I request a different amount or does it go to arbitration?
