Hello all- Im new to the forum...so If I don't post this question too well- please forgive me!
I need help with the following:
A few weeks ago my vehicle (2016 KIA Sportage) audio sound began to stop working - intermittently. I used Bluetooth most.of the time through my apple phone. The"no sound" became a permanent issue last week. I can't hear anything, not am/FM radio either. I do hear Alexa so the speakers work great.
I've tried the following:
* A reboot of the system (3 times)
* Disconnecting the negative battery cable for a period of time
* Removing the KIA from my phone - rebooting my phone)
*Checked the fuse according to chart - all good
* Tried pairing my phone again but now I can't even get that to work!

Any other suggestions? Nothing is working:(

That's a very frustrating problem, and you've already done all of the most common troubleshooting steps. The fact that you can hear Alexa but nothing else tells us a lot about what is going on. Since you can hear Alexa, we know that your speakers and the amplifier are working correctly. The issue is somewhere else, and the most likely culprit is the head unit itself, or a software issue with the head unit.

The fact that you've done all the reboots and disconnected the battery, and still have the same issue, points to a hardware failure within the head unit. The internal circuit board that processes the audio signal from the radio, CD, and Bluetooth inputs may have failed. This is a common issue with older head units, and it's not a simple fix.

A few more things to consider:

- Try a different device: Have you tried pairing a different phone to the Bluetooth, or using a different audio source? If you have, and the problem still persists, then you can be sure that the issue is with the head unit.

- Check the cables: It's very unlikely, but you can try to check the cables in the back of the head unit. A loose connection could cause an intermittent or complete loss of sound. However, the fact that all of the sound sources have failed at once makes this a low probability.

- The microphone: The fact that you can't even get your phone to pair now could be a sign of a failed microphone. This is a long shot, but if the microphone is not working, the system may not be able to pair the phone.

Since your vehicle is a 2016, it is likely past the 5 year mark for the infotainment warranty. Your best bet is to take it to a car audio shop. They can run a diagnostic on the head unit and tell you for sure what is going on. They can also offer you an aftermarket replacement that will have more features and be more reliable.
