First off, I am new to this forum, but a long time car guy and engineer :) I hope to contribute as much as I can.

We have a 2024 Sportage Prestige HEV. I know there is no separate 12V battery as there is on the PHEV, but everything I read says there is a 12V battery integrated into the high voltage battery under the back seat. I also know there is a good 12V power point under the hood going from the Hybrid Power Control Unit (HPCU) to the fuse box.

Well, my wife and I agree the bass is underwhelming in this car, just like it was in my EV6, so I plan on adding a spare tire subwoofer in the back. The question being...is there an easy way to get access to the 12V portion of the high voltage battery so I don't have to run a power cable all the way from under the hood? I can't find anything that says where that separate portion of the battery might be.

My hunch is that there is no separate 12V portion of the battery pack, and all 12V power comes from the HPCU under the hood...and that is the only good source of 12V power....perhaps there is a 12V capacitor somewhere?

Also....does anybody know if there is a vent for the battery under the back seat that can't be blocked by seat covers?

Yes, there is a battery vent just below the middle of the rear seat. Would assume that it is there for a reason (battery heating/cooling?), so best not to block w/anything.

I don't thunk you can get to 12V from under he seat. They put in those ports in the engine compartment to keep you away from the big battery.

There is a 12V power port on my 2024 LX, sort inboard of the gas filler. Those circuits are able to supply pretty good current, and it would be easy to tap into it near the port. Of course it depends on just how much bass you want, but I think that circuit would be good for a decent amp for a single sub.

There is a 50 amp circuit in the back for powering a trailer. As we will never pull a trailer, I used that to power the amp.

Where is that trailer power circuit? I plan to start a separate thread about trailer wire connections--the dealer tells me that my 2024 Sportage HEV (EX trim) doesn't have trailer wiring...

The manual for my new Sportage says there is a vent in that location that shouldn't be blocked. But I can't seem to locate the vent. I'm wondering the same thing (blanket on top when seats are folded down)

Do you have a Hybrid or PHEV?

It looks like the vents are located in the seat belt connector openings. This poses somewhat of a problem for me as I like to put a blanket on my back seat when we take the dog with us.

My previous post is incorrect. There is a single vent at the front of the rear middle seat, about 8" in length. That is what you don't want to block.

I bought a Kia Sportage Hybrid in Mar, 2024.
The car only gets 34.8 mpg and never gets to 38-42!
What is wrong with the hybrid version.
I am waiting for an explanation of my mpg next week by a mechanic to see if they find something wrong!

I've had mine for about 3 months and we are averaging 36, but if you drive a lot of highway, it will be less. I drove from NY to Florida and at 70-75mph, I only got around 32 in ECO mode.

Also, everyone's driving style is different. If you have a heavy foot it will knock your gas mileage down.

I have a 2024 Kia Spirts that gets 34.5 miles since o bought it in Mar, 2024!
I went to the Kia Manager and he said let the mechanic look at it and they did it Nov and said the system is fine and no concerns about my problem about my not getting my mileage of 42-44!
No concerns about my issue!

Just got a 2024 Kia Sportage hybrid HEV. If we just drive in-town I usually get 40mpg to 42mpg...however if we get on the highway or turnpike driving 80mph it will definitely knock it down to 30mpg to maybe 32mpg. It's about 4mo. old now with 6400 miles on it.

I have a 23 and AC went out in the summer, well during the month with the ac off. i was easily getting 38. everywhere.

but normally i am more like 31-33. I live hilly city + i drive a lot of highway. One day a week on the way home. the highway is pretty flat with a few down hills. with traffic i can only drive between 30-55 mph. and it does exceed 42mph but thats not normal.

I have to replace 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid 12 V Battery. waiting for that battery from last 2 moths, Kia Battery is not replaceable with other battery. I heard that there is a national shortage for that battery and It's not available in USA. Is anyone can help me?
