Just recently bought a new 2024 Sportage PHEV with 27 miles on it. We absolutely love it. Fits are lifestyle very well. My only question is what do you use to wash a matte paint car. I’ve read numerous articles that seem to push various products. Our dealer told us to use Dawn dish soap on the matte finish and it will be fine.. Some articles say to use it, others say not to use it. Does anyone know what a “final” answer is?

Whatever soap you choose, you want it to be pH neutral. The difficulty of matte paint is that you can’t run a polisher on it to perform a paint correction as you would on a normal clear coat. Therefore, it’s imperative IMO to apply a coating to it that will help minimize some scratches and UV damage. I realize you said you read many articles, but this link below really does a good job of presenting the fundamentals/science of matte paint in addition to pushing their product. I believe Adam’s Car Shampoo is a pH neutral soap.

We got the same vehicle and were scared to death about all of the stories we heard about how to wash it and how easily they scratch and ended up wrapping the car and ceramic coating it. The car looks awesome and washes so easy now. I tried to upload a couple of pics but this server say they are too large. They are just a typ. Screen shot size.
