Does anyone know if disconnecting battery for 6 months will cause any issues when reconnecting? Going to be gone for the winter. Thanks. Gas engine not hybrid.

When you reconnect the battery after six months, it's not going to cause any major problems, but there are a few things you should be aware of.

First, the car's computer might lose some of its "memory." This can include things like your radio presets, the clock, and the automatic settings for your power windows. The car's computer might also lose its learned idle settings, which could cause the car to idle a little rough for a short period of time until it relearns them.

Second, you will likely need to reset your power windows' "auto-up" and "auto-down" feature. This is a very common issue with modern cars after a battery is disconnected. It's an easy fix, and the process is usually outlined in your owner's manual.

The most important thing is to make sure that the battery is fully charged before you reconnect it. A dead battery can cause a lot of problems, and it's not a good way to start the engine.
