Just saying hello! So far love the car (180 miles).
When I was young I would read manuals cover to cover……now the manuals are bigger; and my patience/attention span is smaller. I will be asking some questions that might have easy answers in the 300+ page manual; but hoping to get better help here

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us. Congratulations on your new Sportage! What did the Sportage replace for you?

Our community is fairly new, small, but slowly growing. It may take some time to get responses...

It was our first Toyota. My wife was primary driver when we got it.
The engine was fine; mpg slightly less than advertised.
Both heated seats and ventilated seats worked -but not as vigorous as other cars.
It was a very reliable car. It had 113000 miles on it. No mechanical issues.
Three annoying issues:
1) low fuel tank warning would come on with over 3 gallons left in tank
2) usb connection to radio was always flakey; and stopped working - even after “fixed” at Toyota under warranty.
3) radio head unit sucked. It was incredibly flakey. Would shut off and reboot randomly. Sometimes no issues for a week; sometimes rebooting 5 times during a 30 minute trip. Toyota also “fixed” it under warranty …… but never fixed. I believe it had to do with old software - but never could update it with usb stick - because flakey usb? Sucky radio?
Also: the screen was very difficult to see on sunny days. Tilted poorly (not adjustable); and poor contrast.

Surprised to hear there were so many issues with your Highlander... I don't normally see these types of compaints when people come out of this vehicle.

I wouldn’t say “many issues”…..the car was very reliable for 113000. The radio head unit just really sucked. I’m guessing they fixed the radio issues on later years
