I'm looking to get a spare tire. My LX came with the stupid tire mobility kit. The parts department at the dealer says there isn't one available for my car.

Re: spare tire - I believe that I read in another Sportage forum, that owners found spare wheels and tires that worked. Maybe try a Google search. I believe they also claimed that wheels that fit other models (Sorento?) and even Hyundai versions (Tucson, Santa Fe?) could also fit. They are out there, just need to research/confirm.

I bought a spare and jack from ModernSpare.com Not cheap but very nice kit.

Thanks. Hoping to find less of a boutique solution. I guess they figure if you're fool enough to buy a new car with no spare tire you might be an easy mark.

The good news is there is room for it in your car! The PHEVs lose that spare wheel well space under the cargo floor. And none of the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid versions come w/a spare either. That was one (albeit minor) of the reasons that I opted for the Sportage over the Tucson.

There does appear to be room, but I lack the hardware to secure the spare in place. That's why I was hoping to be able to buy the whole kit from Kia - the spare, the jack, the wrench and the hardware to secure it all under the cargo floor.

I started out looking at a Tucson. As I researched, I found that the Sportage Hybrid would give me the best combination of fuel economy and towing capacity. In the end I can't deny that I also though the updated styling of the Sportage looked way cooler than the Tucson.
