I love this car. It’s a 2007 Sportage manual transmission with 180k on it. It has decided not to start recently (nothing when ignition is turned) and I suspect the clutch security switch. It will start when you pump the clutch to the floor a couple of times. Before replacing the switch, could the problem be the contact piece that pushes against the pin of the switch? It appears to be missing. Any advice would be greatly appeciated

Our new Sportage shakes when you apply the brakes, particularly at highway speeds. There is also a subtle vibration around 78 mph. The dealership has looked at it 4 times. They have turned all of the rotors but it still shakes. They are opening a technical ticket with Kia.

I'm excited to share that I am currently in the process of purchasing a new vehicle, and my eyes are set on a KIA Sportage. I have some doubts about the fuel economy of the vehicle, what are the monthly costs you’d expect to have on fuel, for an average use of the vehicle in a city kind of drive? I asked the seller for a window sticker but he doesn’t have one unfortunately.
Is there a way to get the window sticker if the owner doesn't have it?

I want a tripometer to start at zero and not reset when I turn the car off. That's what it's doing. How do I have it keep accumulating miles driven until I reset it?

My son was in a fatal accident with his 2015 Kia Sportage. I was told that he was traveling at 100 mph which is so out of character for my son. There are no skid marks in the road. I have read several accounts where the throttle sticks or the cruise control malfunctions. He went through a stop sign at this speed and T boned an suv. I also read that there have been 8 deaths due to the vehicle malfunctioning. Obviously Kia is aware of this but nothing has been done. Will there be a class suit action?

Hi folks, anyone know if Kia is still putting Theta ii 2.4 engines in 21-22-23 Sportage and Sedona? Thanks for any replies.
EDIT....Kia Canada and USA websites both say Sorento and Sportage have 2.5 L engines. Would these be a new and different engine than the 2.4? Thanks.

Hi Folks. New here. Can't find any information regarding how well the replacement engine for the 2015 Sportage theta 2 are standing up. Anyone hear anything or have experience with this? We are picking our 2015 with NEW MOTOR up tomorrow and are nervous about the future. Hope they didn't just install another same old same old Theta2 2.4?
Ya, 220 miles from the dealer. Fortunately??? our Sportage bit the dust only 30 miles from dealer and insurance covered the towing. Thanks for any replies, appreciate you taking the time

Hello ,new to this forum, we have a 2011 Sportage and latey when driving on the highway once in a while there is a rubber smell, comes and goes, sometimes smell is strong and some not Don't notice it in town. Last couple times i was out for a drive (on the highay), checked under the hood,when i got back no smoke. I checked the belt all good. Possible "belt tenison wheel seizing" ?? Any info would be great, Thank You

I have a 2020 Kia Sportage LX AWD. Today my high beams all of sudden stopped working. The low beams, fog lights, running lights all work, but not the high beams or assist.
Does anyone have any suggestions of where to begin?

I might be blind, but does anyone know where the trunk release is inside the car (button/lever)? I know there is a push button on the truck door.

I'm looking to replace my 2017 Ford Escape and I'm liking what I've read/seen on the Sportage Hybrid. I'm looking at the EX trim vs. the SX as it seems to have most of what I would want and the rest is 'bells and whistles'. Not that bells and whistles are bad, but is the SX worth the $$$ premium?

I tried to do a test drive at my nearest Kia dealer and got the 'typical' car salesmen BS runaround (we have the one you asked about... really? Well no, not THAT one, but we have a plug in hybrid... would you want to test drive that one, etc). Anyone know of a good Kia dealer in the Phoenix AZ metro area?

I figure I will have more questions, but if anyone has any input on these, it would be greatly appreciated.

I am a new Kia Sportage PHEV.
Car is great but has a problem that stumps dealer.
shimmy at 60-70 mph but not a tire issue. But... this occurs in hybrid mode but stops if put in EV mode. This must be caused by some unit that stops spinning in EV mode ... but dealer says this does not exist. Does anyone know if the drive shaft does not spin if car in front wheel mode?

I really like the KIA Sportage, specifically the SX Prestige Hybrid, and am considering it over the Hyundai Tucson and the new gen Honda CRV. What has me a bit upended is the design of the grille, with that silly silver bar across the front just below the front of the hood line. Just for giggles, I took a pic of the '23 Sportage and used some amateur cut and paste to erase the silver bar across the front. Here's the before-after:



So much cleaner, and not so 'alien.' It also returns more of the KIA trademark 'tiger grille' design. It seems all too often, car manufacturers are wayyyy overdoing exterior design to substitute 'farkle' for functionality. I do see an aftermarket mod that replaces the silver bar with a black one, but that just replaces the silver 'object' with something else. It just needs to be a clean grille! With that, they could even move the KIA badge to the center of the grille which would be truly sharp. Wish there was some way to get this idea back to KIA for '24.

Is there a way I could track Kia sportage hybrid with vin number? My dealership is saying it’s in PA (port allocated ) status from 1 month. And every time there is a delay in estimate delivery date by one week

I've had my 2023 Sportage XL Prestige PHEV for a bit over a month now. I am finding that when going over street and/or highway bumps (not large ones) the car feels like it is jumping over to the side on the rear end. Having come from a 2022 Subaru Outback Touring (and 4 previous Outbacks) I find the ride in this new vehicle not so great at all. I do like the car, but this unforgiving ride over bumps is really starting to get to me. Yes, I have checked the tire pressures, several times. Anyone else finding the ride in this particular vehicle not satisfactory?

Looking for help and advice. If someone has installed or removed the Kia (not 3rd party) side steps on a 2023 Sportage that would be the ideal person.

Took delivery on my hybrid last September. Got, but didn't want, side steps factory installed. I'm exploreing having them removed. Selling dealer's service department said 3 hours labor for a cost of nearly $500. Since they are only about $780 retail, I probably couldn't resell them for enough to recover my costs.

Another dealer estimated 1 hour labor for about $140. Neither dealer could provide installation instructions to help with my resale of the side steps. One claimed there is a Youtube video I can refer people to.

I've searched hard for instructions on and off of Youtube with no luck. There are plenty of Kia installation videos. Most are 3rd party side steps. Many are for a Kia Sportage. None are for the 2023 model with the new body style.

Some of the videos I have watched show that lower trim comes with the side steps and replaces the standard lower trim. If this is the case for the 2023, then it's probably not worth the cost again unless I can work out a deal in advance to swap trim with whomever I going to sell the side steps to.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
