2001-2010 Sportage No Heat Solved

So, out of the blue, my 2008 Kia Sportage LX 2.0l stopped blowing warm or hot air onto the windshield, into the passenger compartment. I fought my way to the engine-to-heater-core hoses, disconnected them from the thermostat housing, hooked up a water hose, and back flushed the hearer core. There had been a blockage. Hooked it all back up, carefully refilled the cooling system, cognizant of purging ALL air from the system.
Still no heat.
I began researching and speaking with Kia professionals, mechanics. We surmised that the temperature control actuator may have failed. Before tearing into the whole shebang, I tried one more, non-invasive diagnostic.
I turned on the AC. Worked fine. Then I switched everything to HEAT.
Suddenly, I heard the glorious growl, of the "door" switching airflow between the evaporator and heater cores.
HEAT! I HAD HEAT!
When I turned the engine off, I heard the "door" growling back to its neutral position.
For now, heat is restored and I'm thrilled.

Thanks for posting. Same vehicle here. I have changed the thermostat and housing, water temperature sensor, the radiator hoses, the radiator, the AC/heater actuator (passenger side), and have flushed the heater core several times. Right now, I have blasting COLD AIR, which is fine, in the Alabama summer heat. However, I CANNOT get HEAT when I need it to prevent moisture built up or to remove it from the windshield and windows, when it's raining outside, or the AC has simply caused things to want to fog up! I can HEAR the various doors moving and I can send air wherever I wish. I can also get down on the floor and FEEL HEAT radiating from (I guess) the freakin heater core. That's it. I am getting NO HEAT onto the windshield, into the passenger compartment. This has evolved into a persistent, continuous, pain in the butt, with this vehicle. I can't possibly drop it off and let my mechanic figure it out, at $100 an hour. Besides setting it on fire, any suggestions, anything I have not tried?
