I bought a 2020 Kia Sportage about a year ago. Approx. 6 wks ago, the trip info on the dash began to reset to zero every day. I tried the 3 offered settings from the manual (1-reset upon gas refill, 2-reset upon ignition, 3-do not reset unless done manually by driver). It stays on "reset upon ignition". For the past year, the only time it reset was when I reset it manually, which is the setting I had it on. I brought my vehicle to the dealership, even leaving it overnight. They said they could not duplicate the problem. When I picked it up, it was evident that the reset had occurred. I brought this to the service advisor's attention. He said he would speak with a technician & get back to me. After not hearing back for a week, I called the dealership. Service advisor said he would try to duplicate this on another 2020 Sportage & get back to me, which he did not. After contacting the dealership yet again, I was informed that Kia Corp. deemed that my "problem" was a normal operation of the vehicle. This issue did not occur until I had the vehicle for about a year. I'd always manually reset the trip info. I was told I could try going to a different dealership for service OR have an electrical diagnostic done @ $169/hr. (would take 4-5 hrs.) & I would be responsible for that cost if nothing was found, even though I have an extended warranty (which would not be honored at a different dealership because they are individually owned). When I inquired WHY this was deemed "normal", no answer could be given. In speaking to the Service Mgr (10/9/23), he suggested that I contact Kia Corp. on-line...nothing else they could do. I started a "case" with Kia Corp. They state that someone will contact me within 48 hours. After not hearing back for a week, I contacted them. The Customer Advocate just read the case info off of a computer screen and spit out no useful information. Supposedly, there is no technical person they (or I) could speak with. The dealership says the same thing. When I travel, I need to get accurate mileage and now I have to manually write each trip down on overnight trips. In my opinion, this is unacceptable and Kia's response is beyond maddening.
