AWD issue - common?

Hello,

We have a 2012 which has lost the back drive, Only the front ones now turn.
the dealer said it’s the spline which we need to replace the transfer case and transmission. Since it’s a 2012 and 212km is it might worth it. So my second question is if we leave it as front wheel drive, how do we lock in both front wheels so they turn together. It seems that when we start on an ice patch, only one front wheel turns.

This is a similar question so as not to start a new thread. I replaced the 4wd coupler unit complete in August last. I have a 4wd icon on the dash. My scanner doesn't cover 4wd. If I pulled the fuse would that disable the whole AWD function?
