I do believe it's a standard feature for the Prestige trim level. The reason you might not be seeing it working is usually because it's a setting that needs to be enabled in the vehicle's infotainment system. It's not always turned on by default from the factory. Try checking in the main Setup menu on your screen. I'm not 100% certain but you should look for an option like Vehicle, then Doors or Locks, and from there you can usually choose how and when the doors automatically lock. You might have options like "Lock when shifting into Drive" or "Lock based on speed". Something like that.

If you go through the menus and still can't find it, there is a small chance that the setting is disabled due to a regional difference in the car's software, but that's unlikely for such a common feature. Your best bet is to check for a Doors or Locks menu. If it's not there, you should ask the dealership to show you where it is, as they can also enable it for you if it's buried in a deeper diagnostic menu. It's almost certainly a setting you just need to turn on.

I always suggest new owners take a good, long read of the owners manual that comes with the car. You'll be amazed at how many people don't know how often to change their own oil, what light bulbs to use, etc., etc.. Your owners manual has a lot of great information in it if you take the time to read and study it.

I've also been looking for the Walk-Away, Auto-Lock feature on my 2026 Sportage SX HEV Prestige. Based on what I'm seeing in the manual, that feature does NOT exist. Instead, the manual offers only, "Pressing the button on the front door handles with all doors closed or any door unlocked, locks all doors." If walk-away auto lock was available, pressing the button on the front doors would kinda stupid if you could just...walk away and lock all doors. Others have suggested finding the "feature" in the infotainment system under Settings, but auto-lock is not there as an option. The only other option is using the Fob.

There must be a reason why this was omitted. I had this option on my 2019 Honda Civic, and I used it constantly.

Every car & brand will have different/unique features. My new Civic doesn't have a radar-based adaptive cruise control like my Sportage has. This results in many false braking events because the Civic's camera often gets confused. There are many things I also like about the Civic (walk-away locking included) that the Sportage doesn't have and vice-versa.

It wasn't "omitted". It just isn't part of Kia's designs. Haven't you ever owned another car brand but Honda? Thank goodness not all cars are the same!...
