Have a 25 Sportage Hybrid Went down the shore averaging 39 to 45 mpg . Filled up on way back and now can’t get over 33.6 mpg. Did something happen to engine?

Hard to tell w/o knowing more about your situation, but it sounds like your first MPG had a lot of slow/city/stop & go driving and the lower was based mostly on highway driving? It resets after every fill up. You can see your total overall MPG from purchase in your trip logs.

I’ve had my 24’ hybrid Ex for a full year now and i drive the highway 250 miles a week to work and traffic here typically cruises fast. I most of the time drive 80-85mph and the mileage is around 27-28mpg. Now, when driving on city streets with alot of stop and go my mpg jumps to 35-38mpg. Pulling my boat on the highway at 70mph i get about 18mpg.
It all depends mostly on the speed you drive. This hybrid tho it cruises very nicely upto 100mph, it does suck the gas pretty good over 70mph and even tho it’s a turbo with over 200hp, it does pull a 1200 lb boat well, it drinks alot of gas doing it. I’d probably get the same results from a non hybrid but when in the city is where i get a advantage.

I have consistently gotten 43+ in my 2024 LX HEV. I drive with a light foot. The first week I had it I took a drive on back roads at 45-50 MPH and got 46 MPG. On the interstate I go 65 and get 42-43 MPG. I'm retired and not in a hurry, and I prefer blue highways.

After one month my Sportage PHEV calculated 197 MPG (that's right) using only 1/4 tank of gas and traveling over 550 miles. Crazy! On the other hand, I have only driven in my local area and usually in EV mode. Also, our electric company, Commonwealth Edison, is rebating me the $1,700 cost of installing a Level2 (240v) charger in my garage. I tell my wife we will save the cost of the car in only 30 years of usage.
