smart key for dummies

I just don't get it? how do I get in my '24 Prestige if fob battery goes dead?
 
Assuming it's the same as in Canada there's a key in the FOB attached to the keyring loop. Pull it out and you'll find a piece of plastic trim beside the driver door handle you can pry off with the key and then use the key to unlock the door.
 
thank you, I may be ready for the funny farm cause I do not see any way a key is coming out of this fob, there is a recessed button at the bottom of the fob but pushing it in does nothing??? May need to go see my dealer salesperson,,, maybe she'll give me a gas card for all my troubles lol
 
Yep, the recessed button at the edge near the keychain loop should release the keychain loop and let you pull out the key.

 
wow, thank you again, that's more complicated than changing a tire and years down the road if ever needed. Any warning before the fob dies?
 
great,,, thanx, in light of thefts happening the whole purpose of the key makes sense now I'm confident there's a failsafe JIC that message on the instrument panel I ignore for 3 weeks

Change it when you change the batteries in your smoke detectors. Usually on the beginning/end Daylight savings time, if you do that!
