Hey there, after doing a coolant flush I thought I'd check out the thermostat. Car has done 126000 no issues . I do pre emptive servicing. Recently oxy sensors, oil and filter, transmission flush and fuel filter. So coolant was clean and thermo looking good. Tried getting new gasket but was provided wrong one. None available yet. So I put old one back for now, looked OK. Fourth time and still leaking. My question is does this gasket fit over the thermo then install thermo, then housing? Or do you put in thermo, then gasket and cover housing?
Some gaskets come with slit on inside for thermo upper rim to insert into. This old one just sits over the edge but has no slit like it swollen or stretched or something. Or is it supposed to be like that.
Do I need a new one or can this be reused?
Cheers
