I bought a Kia Sportage Hybrid EX, with premium package. I paid $2K over MSRP. I made the deal in late November. I am curious if anybody was able to get one for less, or if I got a decent deal. I called ~10 dealers in Massachusetts, and the lowest they went (on the phone) was $2K over.

It's VERY difficult to get a good deal in this current market - so your $2k over MSRP isn't really that outrageous at the moment. I know many people say they'd never pay MSRP or over - but if you want/need a new vehicle, that's the price... I wouldn't feel too bad about what you paid if I were you. The new Sportage is a nice vehicle...

Try dealers in Western VA. Just search dealers and go to their web sites. Most will have prices. I've noticed that the closer to DC you get, the more the "Market Adjustment". At least one dealer is selling at MSRP. Will pickup mine, purchased at MSRP, in late June, after 10 month wait. Also, Black on Black can sometimes be found at MSRP. Mine is EX Hybrid with Premium package, almost on the boat from Korea.

The shell is starting to crack here in PHX area on Hybrid EX. In Jan 2024 one dealer firm at MSRP another -$500, mine was -$950 off + a $500 rebate for 3 yr finance term with no add ons. Used True Car pricing to establish an entry point to negotiate. 4 1/2 years ago on wife's Accord I would not even have considered this a good deal.

Have your wife talking to the other dealer in town while you sit there saying not sure i want to pay anything over msrp...

Take your money to whoever wants to give you what you want... or just don't spend it if that works best for you. The dealer we were at said 5k over, wife gets up and goes over in a corner and proceeds to talk to the other dealership who we also had shopped at. The sales guy gets up with the proposal and says don't leave. Comes back with a new deal, flat msrp and the $2500 orygun vehicle kickback was now taken off total.... not a wait and get a check in the mail....
Lovely new 2023 PHEV Shadow Grey Matte Xline sits in my driveway. Of course stepson needed to total my 2019 PHEV Niro for downpayment... but I digress.
Oh, and sidebar, the dealer 5miles away... after they didn't do half the routine oil change stuff (check air, rotate which I paid additional for) does not see my business anymore and I now choose to go 35 miles to the other dealership.
I guess locations will play into that, but I hear people drive long distances to save a few bucks regardless.

Walked out of 2 Kia dealers refusing to discount or remove add ons. Negotiated with last dealer by text on OTD price including a discount and no ad ons. They provided additional discount to offset the add ons since they couldn't be removed from car. Yes stood firm but this is a difficult environment to negotiate, not the same environment as I referenced in 2019 when they deep discounted our Honda.

I paid MSRP. I wanted an LX with FWD because it gets better gas mileage than the AWD. I had to wait 3 months to get what I wanted. I made it clear from the start what I thought about market adjustments, and fortunately, the dealer said they didn't like them either.

I would have made that choice, too. I am 75 and do not need to go out if the roads are bad, and I do not plan to go off-road. But it seemed that to get FWD, I would have to go from West Virginia to a dealer in Florida or Georgia. If I could find one in the colors and features I wanted. Big if.
The EX level features suited me quite well, and FWD was not available on that trim level.
I kept scanning the on-line inventory of local dealers and finally found a listing (2 of them really) at a dealer 3 hours away in the interior and exterior colors I wanted. Neither was on the lot yet (in transit) and I put down a deposit on one.
I would also have considered a Toyota RAV4 hybrid,a but the dealer told me the wait was at least 6 months.

No....not in this environment. Bought EX hybrid at end of Jan at -$1500 under MSRP....no add on BS.

I heard the same thing from a Toyota dealer. The other thing about the RAV I didn't like is they're all AWD. I had several Civics that I had good experiences with, so I looked at the CR-V. The 1000 lb towing capacity ruled that out.
